Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them (2016)

In 1926, Newt Scamander, a quirky and kind-hearted magizoologist, arrived in New York City with a mysterious and magical suitcase. Inside the suitcase was an expansive, enchanted habitat filled with an array of magical creatures, each with its own unique charm and danger.

Newt's arrival coincided with a tense and fearful atmosphere in the city. The magical community was on edge due to the threat posed by the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald, who had been causing havoc in Europe and was rumored to be hiding in America. Furthermore, a series of unexplained and destructive magical occurrences were alarming both wizards and No-Majs (non-magical people), risking exposure of the magical world.

While in the city, Newt encountered Jacob Kowalski, a friendly and curious No-Maj aspiring to open his own bakery. Through a series of mishaps, Jacob inadvertently opened Newt's suitcase, releasing several magical creatures into the city. Among them were a mischievous Niffler, obsessed with shiny objects, and an Erumpent, a large, rhino-like beast with explosive tendencies.

The escape of these creatures caught the attention of Tina Goldstein, an ex-Auror working for the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA). Tina apprehended Newt, believing him to be a threat to the secrecy of the wizarding world. However, after hearing Newt's genuine concern for his creatures and the realization that the escaped beasts were not the cause of the city's recent disturbances, she decided to help him.

Together with Tina's sister, Queenie, a warm-hearted Legilimens, and Jacob, the quartet set out to recapture the runaway creatures. Their adventures took them through the hidden corners of New York, from the underground wizarding speakeasy run by the goblin Gnarlak to the Central Park Zoo. Along the way, Newt and his friends faced numerous challenges, including MACUSA's strict enforcement of magical secrecy laws and the growing threat of Grindelwald's influence.

Meanwhile, a darker mystery unfolded involving a young orphan named Credence Barebone, who was under the control of the abusive and fanatical leader of the Second Salemers, Mary Lou Barebone. Credence, who possessed a powerful and destructive magical force known as an Obscurus, became a target for both MACUSA and Grindelwald, the latter disguised as the dark and manipulative Auror, Percival Graves.

As the hunt for the magical creatures continued, Newt discovered that the true source of the city's disturbances was not his creatures but Credence's uncontrollable Obscurus. In a dramatic and heartbreaking climax, Credence's Obscurus wreaked havoc in the city, leading to a confrontation with MACUSA. Despite Newt's efforts to save Credence, the young man's fate seemed sealed when he was seemingly destroyed by Aurors.

In the aftermath, Grindelwald's true identity was revealed, and he was captured, though his influence continued to loom ominously over the wizarding world. Newt, having proven his innocence and the innocence of his creatures, prepared to leave New York. Before parting, he gifted Jacob a suitcase full of magical baked goods, ensuring that Jacob's dream of opening a bakery could come true, despite MACUSA's memory-erasing spell meant to protect the magical community's secrecy.

As Newt boarded the ship back to Europe, he promised Tina that he would return and that their paths would cross again. With his suitcase in hand, filled with the wonders and dangers of the magical world, Newt Scamander continued his journey to understand and protect the fantastic beasts and to bridge the gap between the magical and non-magical worlds.
