In the ancient city of Kahndaq, Teth-Adam, a slave, is bestowed with the powers of the gods by the wizard Shazam to liberate his people from tyranny. However, Teth-Adam’s sense of justice becomes corrupted, leading him to use his newfound abilities for vengeance rather than protection. He is eventually imprisoned for his misuse of power, awaiting a time when the world would need him again.
Centuries later, Teth-Adam, now known as Black Adam, is released from his prison by a group of archaeologists seeking to free Kahndaq from modern oppression. As Black Adam re-emerges, he begins to exact his ruthless brand of justice on those who have wronged his homeland, attracting the attention of both local and global forces. His actions lead to widespread chaos, drawing the attention of the Justice Society of America (JSA), who see him as a threat to global stability.
The JSA, comprised of heroes like Hawkman, Doctor Fate, and Cyclone, confronts Black Adam in an attempt to curb his violent methods and show him a path of true heroism. Despite their efforts, Black Adam remains torn between his desire for vengeance and the potential to be a true protector of Kahndaq. Battles ensue, showcasing the struggle between the JSA's ideals and Black Adam's ruthless tactics.
In the climactic showdown, Black Adam faces a choice: continue his path of destruction or embrace a more heroic role. With the help of the JSA and a confrontation with his own past, he begins to understand the true meaning of power and responsibility.
